Personal Information
- Profile Information: Display name, growing space type, favorite plants and flowers that you voluntarily provide to personalize your experience.
- Location Information: ZIP code only (not precise location) to provide weather-based plant care advice and determine your USDA growing zone. Location information is optional - you can use the app without providing it, though some features will be limited.
- Account Information: If you choose to create an account using Google Sign-In, we collect your email address, name, and profile picture from Google.
Plant and Garden Data
- Plant Images: Photos you take or select from your photo library for plant identification and health analysis. These images are stored securely on our servers to maintain your plant analysis history and garden records.
- Garden Information: Details about gardens you create, including dimensions, plant selections, and layout preferences.
- Analysis Results: Plant identification results, health assessments, and care recommendations generated from your plant images.
Technical Information
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and troubleshooting purposes.
- Usage Data: Basic usage information for rate limiting and service improvement. We do not use third-party analytics services - only internal tracking for app functionality.
- Subscription Information: Subscription status only. All payment processing, receipts, and transaction details are fully managed by RevenueCat and Apple - we do not store payment information.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Plant Identification and Care: Analyze your plant images using AI technology to provide accurate identification and personalized care recommendations.
- Weather-Based Advice: Use your ZIP code to provide location-specific weather conditions and seasonal plant care guidance.
- Personalized Experience: Customize recommendations based on your growing space, plant preferences, and gardening goals.
- Service Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to improve app functionality and develop new features.
- Customer Support: Respond to your inquiries and provide technical assistance when needed.
- Subscription Management: Process payments and manage your subscription status through our payment processor.
Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to provide our functionality:
- OpenAI: AI-powered plant identification and analysis. Plant images are processed securely by OpenAI but are not stored by OpenAI.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Cloud storage for your plant photos and garden images. Photos are stored securely in encrypted storage with optimized versions for better app performance.
- RevenueCat: Subscription management and payment processing. RevenueCat handles subscription status and payment verification.
- Google Sign-In: Our primary authentication service. Currently, Google Sign-In is the only method available to create an account.
- Weather Services: External weather APIs to provide current conditions and forecasts for your location.
Data Storage and Security
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement appropriate measures to protect it:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard SSL/TLS protocols.
- Cloud Storage: Plant photos and analysis results are stored on secure AWS servers with encryption and access controls. Profile preferences are stored both locally on your device and on our servers.
- Data Minimization: We only collect and retain data that is necessary to provide our services.
- Access Controls: Access to your personal information is restricted to authorized personnel who need it to provide our services.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with our legal obligations:
- Profile information is retained while your account is active and for up to 1 year after account deletion.
- Plant photos and analysis results are retained as part of your garden records and analysis history. You can delete these through your profile settings.
- Subscription status is retained as required by payment processors and applicable laws. Detailed payment information is managed entirely by RevenueCat and Apple.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request access to the personal information we have about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-Out: You can disable camera access through your device settings (required for plant analysis) or choose not to provide your ZIP code (limits weather-based features but core functionality remains available).
Children's Privacy
Our App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
International Users
If you are accessing our App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located. By using our App, you consent to such transfer.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
